VMware Tanzu for Kubernetes Operations Expands to India, Canada

For IT organizations, software-as-a-service (SaaS) consumption models are incredibly compelling. With SaaS, there is no need to maintain or patch software because the latest and greatest features are delivered seamlessly to the consumer. This means the IT operations team saves precious time, and can also eliminate the much loathed “patch weekend.” But as regulatory requirements continue to grow and change over time, CIOs and CISOs are running into data residency and security constraints that require separate instances of SaaS products to be hosted in-region.

As a market leader in working with complex organizations and heavily regulated industries, VMware is continuing to deliver solutions to the market that help organizations comply with data residency and security requirements. Today, we are pleased to announce two new regions that will support our future and current VMware Tanzu customers: India and Canada.

For India, VMware now offers local instances of the following Tanzu SaaS products:

For Canada:

With this SaaS expansion, we strongly recommend Tanzu offerings to customers with data localization requirements in financial services and banking, healthcare, government, and other highly regulated verticals.

Proximity is about more than just compliance

As cloud adoption expands, the need to bring data closer to the application and end users they serve has also increased. However, as businesses grow their footprint in the public cloud globally, they encounter the challenges of data residency and privacy regulations that govern the flow of data across international borders, as well as how data is protected within regions. Organizations must consider these regulations as they evaluate their platforms and tooling to increase further agility, monitoring, and operations in a multi-cloud world. Now, with more regions available for our Tanzu portfolio, regulated industries can enjoy the innovation of Tanzu while remaining compliant.

For the CIO and CISO, regional availability is more than regulatory compliance and data residency. Regional availability also improves latency and disaster recovery and facilitates an improved security posture.
