Pivotal’s Big €100M Investment In Ireland

October 21, 2015 Stacey Schneider

sfeatured-Pivotal-IrelandToday, alongside Ireland’s prime minister, the Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD, and the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, Pivotal announced a €100M investment plan in Ireland, including a new Pivotal office in Dublin and the creation of 130 new jobs. Similar to many Pivotal Labs locations, Pivotal will also create a software innovation hub for startups and enterprise customers.

Ireland is one of the world’s most important technology hubs, and is considered strategic to Pivotal’s efforts to help accelerate the digital transformation for companies in the EMEA region. Pivotal Labs, the agile development arm of Pivotal also known as Silicon Valley’s Secret Weapon, is widely credited with shaping the development culture of Silicon Valley’s most successful brands. Expanded operations in Cork as well as the new office in Dublin will help Ireland capitalize on the growing talent pool of creative and digital expertise, and seed more of the Silicon Valley know-how in the region.

At an event today in Dublin, a number of Pivotal executives from the US headquarters in the Bay Area, as well as local business unit leaders were joined with enthusiastic support from Ireland’s government, formally welcoming Pivotal’s support in the region.

The €100 million investment by Pivotal in Dublin and Cork supports the reputation of Ireland as a one of the world’s most important technology hubs. The creation of 130 highly skilled jobs by Pivotal is also an endorsement of the availability of the best and brightest talent in Ireland. I welcome Pivotal as valuable addition to our enterprise community. This Government is committed to maintaining Ireland as a pro-jobs and pro-investment location so that we can keep our recovery going.

An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD

Companies in the region will now have access to the full Pivotal Labs experience, including the Pivotal Way, our agile software development approach that brings the same start-up speeds, predictable software methodology, and iterative product development culture that helped build many of the digital business leaders in today’s modern economy. In addition, Pivotal will also bring key software solutions that accelerate digital transformation, including its Cloud Native platform, Pivotal Cloud Foundry®, and Pivotal Big Data Suite, one of the most complete data platforms for big and fast data.

Initially based at DogPatch Labs, Pivotal’s expansion in the area will take place over the next five years, starting with recruitment for full-time software engineering, technical support, operational and general and administrative roles.

Additionally, Pivotal’s CEO Rob Mee, who founded Pivotal Labs in 1989, will be presenting a keynote session at the Web Summit, running from November 3rd-5th 2015 in Dublin.
