Tanzu Application Platform on AWS QuickStart: Now for Multicluster Deployments Too

February 15, 2023 Siteng Yu

The modular nature of VMware Tanzu Application Platform offers a customized environment for both developers and operators, bolstering their modernization efforts. In order to help customers reach their organizational goals, VMware continually works to refine the customer experience. In fact, recently, VMware Tanzu Application Platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) QuickStart was released for Tanzu Application Platform 1.2.0 (July 2022) in an effort to improve the experience of installing Tanzu Application Platform on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). The goal of the Tanzu Application Platform QuickStart is to provide a lower barrier of entry to the platform by providing a guided installation experience for both the platform, as well as the AWS infrastructure required to run it. Since the initial release, Tanzu Application Platform on AWS QuickStart has had iterative releases to support the latest release of Tanzu Application Platform and has proven to be an effective mechanism for improving customer’s time to value.

In addition to supporting the deployment of Tanzu Application Platform 1.4 into a single cluster, the newest release of Tanzu Application Platform on AWS QuickStart now also allows users to deploy in a multicluster architecture! With a few simple clicks, users will have access to a multi-cluster Tanzu Application Platform environment according to reference architecture on AWS within 90 minutes (including infrastructure setup time). This significantly reduces the installation time for Tanzu Application Platform on Amazon EKS.

Ultimately, on top of allowing users to quickly try out Tanzu Application Platform, the longer-term goal is for AWS QuickStart to be the preferred way to deploy a production-ready Tanzu Application Platform on AWS!
