⚡️ Enlightning - Evolving Multi-tenant Kubernetes Log Collection with the Logging Operator

May 16, 2024

The Logging Operator has long been addressing a gap in Kubernetes log collection. Its primary aim is to provide an API that cluster admins and tenant users - typically developer teams - can use in collaboration to solve problems around log collection, routing, aggregation, transformation, and forwarding to various destinations in a flexible and manageable way. The project is now going through an evolutionary step: it has become a CNCF sandbox project, and the maintainers are working on a new component called the Telemetry Controller. This new component addresses telemetry data collection - in addition to just logs - and routing by building on the OpenTelemetry Collector, where the Logging Operator itself keeps focusing on aggregation, transformation, and forwarding.
