At VMware Explore in Barcelona, the VMware Tanzu portfolio takes center stage, showcasing how Tanzu’s artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offerings help organizations drive business innovation. Whether you're a developer tasked with building AI functionality into your product and seeking AI services for more efficient application development, a platform engineer looking for ways to reduce toil in multi-cloud operations, or a data engineer or scientist responsible for establishing data pipelines, ML workflows, and training large language models (LLMs), VMware Tanzu solutions speed up the development and delivery of next-generation, data-rich applications. And once your applications are in production, Tanzu’s AI capabilities allow platform engineers to optimize cloud spend, enhance application performance, and streamline the day-to-day management of apps across clusters and clouds.

Develop apps with AI functionality: Capabilities for developers

At VMware Explore, the VMware Tanzu team is unveiling groundbreaking offerings for developers, making product development with AI functionality more user-friendly, scalable, and intuitive with the following innovations.

AI capabilities in VMware Tanzu Application Service (beta) – Integrated within the Tanzu Application Service platform, this service offers customers a seamless way to harness VMware’s Private AI capabilities, eliminating infrastructure complexities. Customers interested in running private AI services within their Tanzu Application Service environment can sign up for this beta program to get early access to what we are building within the Tanzu Application Service ecosystem utilizing private AI technologies. Potential use cases benefiting from AI capabilities in Tanzu Application Service may include:

  • Generative AI (GenAI) applications running inside a Tanzu Application Service foundation

  • BOSH-deployed LLM tiles with private access to these utilizing your existing Tanzu Application Service network space inside your data centers or virtual private clouds

  • Using the `cf push` interface to build and run private AI-based applications

  • Extending the Tanzu Application Service marketplace with offerings that allow for direct service bindings to LLMs

For more details and to sign up for this exciting beta through VMware Tanzu’s design partner program, read the blog for Tanzu Application Service AI beta.

Spring AI – We’re thrilled to announce the graduation of Spring AI, an open source project created in collaboration with the Spring community to help developers add AI functionality to their Java applications with a simple command. This project simplifies AI integration into Spring Boot applications, offering portable access to diverse AI models, support of multiple vector databases, and easy change implementations thanks to a portable API.

VMware Tanzu Greenplum machine learning automation agent (beta) – Designed for database analysts and data scientists, a new Tanzu Greenplum machine learning automation agent (gpMLBot), now in beta, will automate machine learning pipelines on Tanzu Greenplum data warehouses. From data preparation to model training, gpMLBot can streamline the ML process, offering efficient end-to-end workflows.

Revolutionizing apps and multi-cloud management with generative AI

We are thrilled to announce  generative AI–assisted capabilities designed to simplify the intricacies of multi-cloud management.

VMware Tanzu Hub with Intelligent Assist – This large language model capability enables platform and site reliability engineering (SRE) teams to complete management tasks in less time with reduced friction. With the power of natural language processing, users can effortlessly search and navigate resources across multi-cloud environments without following a specific query format. Simply ask Intelligent Assist what you are looking for, and the results will include the relevant resources, data, configuration, and status within your cloud environment and restricted to your access privileges. For example, you can ask Intelligent Assist to display a list of all Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) clusters and the results will be returned to you in seconds along with the option to explore these resources in Tanzu Hub.
