How do you deploy a stateless application on Kubernetes? What Kubernetes components are at play? Where exactly does your application run in the cluster, and how does Kubernetes direct traffic to it? How do different parts of an application communicate with one another? Join host Whitney Lee and her guest (and mentor!) Rick Osowski as they discuss the answers to these questions and more!
Rick Osowski is a Principal Engineer at Seagate Technology, pulling from over 18 years in the IT industry, with experience ranging from Development to QA to Technical Sales to Product Management to Solution Architecture. His current focus is on the adoption of Kubernetes and Containers throughout the open-source object storage project, CORTX.
Formerly, Rick was a Senior Solution Architect for IBM Cloud and led the Event-Driven Architecture domain with a focus on Apache Kafka-based reference architectures.
Rick lives in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois with his wife and daughter. He is a passionate mental health advocate, podcast host, and non-profit supporter.
Whitney is a full stack developer who enjoys understanding and using tools in the cloud native landscape. Creative and driven, Whitney recently pivoted from an art-related career to one in tech. She is active in the open source community, especially around CNCF projects focused on developer productivity. You can catch her lightboard streaming show ϟ Enlightning on Tanzu.TV. And not only does she rock at tech - she literally has toured playing in the band Mutual Benefit on keyboards and vocals.
