People around the world have access to digital experiences in almost every part of their lives, all from the touch of a button. So it only makes sense that they also expect the same—if not better—seamless experience when it comes to how they engage with government organisations. By renovating their approach to software development and project management, public sector agencies can unleash more powerful services at a faster rate and with greater success than ever before. But first they must get the basics right.
Much of this push to modernisation can be attributed to the large amounts of data government agencies have accumulated over time. This data can be used to develop improved citizen services at a lower cost to the taxpayer, and the sharing of this data across states or departments can help better coordinate government response to emergencies like natural disasters or a pandemic.
In this paper, we'll explore the two main forces driving governments to innovate and the three principles agencies can adopt to successfully execute an application modernisation initiative.
