How does a bank with 8.3 million customers and availability in 39 countries —digitally transform? And more importantly, how do they do it while keeping their developers happy?
That’s the obstacle Rabobank, the 45-year-old Netherlands-based bank, ran into in late 2015 as they decided to undergo their digital transformation journey.
“The main criteria was: ‘What's the developer experience like?’ because if the developer is not liking it… [then] the developer will simply not come to us.” said Vincent Oostindië, Business Architect at Rabobank as he talked to Pivotal’s Jeff Kelly at SpringOne Platform 2018.
Choosing Pivotal Cloud Foundry ended up being a no-brainer. It was the simplest option for the bank, “just CF push, and that's it. We thought it was great,” said Oostindië.
Since undergoing this journey with Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Rabobank has dramatically improved many aspects of their business. For example, they’ve opened up a developer shop, through open APIs, four foundations in production, with 900 instances running. And they’re just getting started.
