The Greenplum Command Center (GPCC) is getting a new look. GPCC is the web-based monitoring tool and administration interface for Pivotal Greenplum. It’s the tool Greenplum administrators use to view queries running in the system, review performance metrics, and perform troubleshooting and reporting. In other words, it’s the place Greenplum admins spend the majority of their time and is critically important to maintaining optimal database performance.
The new version of GPCC is getting—among other improvements—a completely new user interface (UI) designed to make it easier than ever for administrators to visually understand current performance metrics and identify & diagnose trouble spots. In this episode of Pivotal Insights, I’m joined by Tim McCoy, our senior director of design at Pivotal who is leading the development of the new GPCC UI. We discuss the design philosophy behind the new GPCC, the driving reasons for overhauling the user interface and, most importantly, how the new and improved GPCC UI is going to make life easier for Greenplum administrators.
In addition, check out the video below for a guided tour of the new GPCC UI from Tim as it currently stands in Beta 3. The new GPCC is due for general availability later this fall.
