Introducing the Tanzu Service Mesh and Tanzu Application Platform Integration

January 4, 2023

VMware Tanzu Application Platform supports Kubernetes deployments on VMware Tanzu Service Mesh. One key ingredient to delivering a secure application is the ability to set up networking and mTLS communication between clusters and provide a central management plane for Istio with observability and resiliency for Kubernetes workloads. Tanzu Service Mesh’s Istio-based service mesh solves for this using its Global Namespace (GNS) to set up a secure network across a multi-cluster and multi-cloud environment. In Tanzu Application Platform 1.4, we have delivered the first of these integrations by supporting Tanzu Application Platform Kubernetes deployments on Tanzu Service Mesh for run clusters, and also supporting service mesh connectivity for build service. See how it works in this video. And learn more about Tanzu Application Platform 1.4 here: https://tanzu.vmware.com/content/blog/tanzu-application-platform-1-4-ga-release
