Determining the state of the United States economy by a single metric may provide grist for the pundits, but little in the way of real insight. Many factors contribute to the overall health of the economy, to varying degrees depending on the region, and changing over time. State by State is an ongoing project by Bloomberg’s visual data team that offers a more comprehensive look at the health of the nation. The tool provides analytics on the latest data from numerous sources on jobs, income, health care, housing, banking, demographics, and more. Not only providing a macro view, the tool allows users to drill down and look at the trends on a state-by-state basis based on demographics and the political climate of the states:
