At this year's VMware Explore in Las Vegas, Tanzu made multiple announcements that build upon that history, and extend the core attributes of VMware Tanzu Platform to more application types and containerized workloads across private and public clouds. Tanzu Platform 10 extends the simple Cloud Foundry developer experience to Kubernetes
The release of Tanzu Platform 10 is the culmination of years of experience delivering an enterprise-level cloud native application platform. With Tanzu Platform 10, we are bringing all the attributes of Tanzu Platform to support multiple app types and deployment patterns across diverse infrastructure environments, with standardized golden paths to production for developers and platform engineers.
Developers can use simple operations to automate secure container builds, bind services to apps, deploy code with simple commands, and easily scale applications whether they are running in a Kubernetes-based or Cloud Foundry environment. Meanwhile, platform engineering teams can simplify application and platform management tasks such as vulnerability patching, rolling upgrades, and policy enforcement by utilizing the 3Rs model inherent in the platform.
Tanzu Platform 10 includes new capabilities that will change the way customers manage, secure, and optimize their modern workloads regardless of where they are running. Some Tanzu Platform 10 highlights include:
Multi-foundation view - the ability to view all your foundations in a single, consolidated view for simplified management of your application portfolio.
Security transparency - a comprehensive view of security features and measures for faster vulnerability detection and mitigation, as well as policy enforcement, drift detection, and the ability to analyze an application’s software bill-of-materials (SBOM).
Enhanced developer services - added capabilities to help developers ship secure software more quickly, including rolling and canary deploys, improvements in the CF CLI for application auto-scaling, better startup times, and overall application resiliency.
Application spaces - application-aware automation and landing zones called 'spaces' in which platform engineers can configure environments based on specific application requirements, including compliance and security.
Simplified cloud native application delivery - standardized golden paths for developers, enabling them to automate secure container builds and deploy code with simple commands.
Built-in service binding - connects apps to middleware and databases, automatically managing credentials and connection strings so developers can focus on writing code, not integration.
