Taking place April 13-16 at the Hyatt Austin in Austin, TX, ApacheCon is a yearly meetup for the giant community supporting the Apache Software Foundation’s open source big data and cloud computing projects. Smart organizations and business have changed their cipher suite, added ECDHE keys and stronger RSA keys to now default to forward secrecy operation. During this session, Pivotal’s William A Rowe Jr will discuss httpd mod_ssl facilities, and how to harden and enhance your web server deployments.
Cloud Foundry Diego: Modular and Extensible Substructure for Microservices

The Diego project was originally conceived as a rewrite of the Droplet Execution Agent (DEA) component of the Cloud Foundry elastic runtime, the component responsible for scheduling, starting, stopping, and scaling applications in Linux containers. Matt Stine, Principal Engineer at Pivotal, will discuss this modular platform for microservices, exploring the Diego architecture, its role as the new core of the Cloud Foundry elastic runtime, and how it is being used as a component in other platforms such as Lattice and Spring XD.
Getting Started Lab for Project Geode

This three hour hands-on lab will serve as an introduction to Project Geode, enabling attendees to get a quick start on using this newly open sourced engine that powers Pivotal GemFire. Attendees will have an opportunity to work with the founding contributors and learn how to set up and install Project Geode, administer a cluster, and get started developing with the technology.
Unleashing the Silicon Forest Fire – the Open Sourcing of GemFire

Brian Dunlap, Senior Software Engineer at Southwest Airlines, will join Pivotal’s Sudhir Menon, Jags Ramnarayan, and Dan Smith to discuss GemFire’s storied history, its architecture, and why Pivotal has decided to open source the project. They will also discuss its many time-sensitive use cases, making sure that tickets are purchased, hotel rooms are booked, trades are made, and credit card transactions are cleared in a timely fashion.
Apache HTTP Configuration API for Developers

The Apache HTTP Server module configuration API can be a daunting challenge to approach. Pivotal’s Fred Melo, Technical Marketing Director, and William Markito Oliveira, Enterprise Architect, will discuss the role and evolution of stock prediction systems using contemporary technologies and tools. Since the prediction algorithm is just a small piece of the puzzle, Melo and Markito Oliveira will provide a walk-through the architecture and implementation details of a cloud-based stock prediction application built on top of open-source tools.
