Pivotal Open Source Hub

March 11, 2014 Stacey Schneider

featured-pivotal-hubEarlier this year, Pivotal’s Chris Beams shared why we believe Open Source is Pivotal to everything we do and underscored how it is a central theme to our core culture. Since then, we have made some big news in open source, with Paul Maritz announcing two weeks ago that we are going to spin the Cloud Foundry project out to an open governance model in order to best foster growth for that community.

While some open source news gets more attention than others, today I’d like to take time to share a resource with the Pivotal community called the Pivotal Open Source Hub. This resource is a meetup.com community site where we publish the variety of talks and free events we do for open source community. These types of events cover technology topics from Pivotal’s portfolio and cast of engineers, including experts on RabbitMQ, Redis, Cloud Foundry, Spring, Grails, Groovy, MADlib, R, Apache Tomcat, httpd & Hadoop.

Most of the speakers are actual Pivotal employees, and include:

  • the founders of RabbitMQ
  • the creator of Redis
  • the core contributors to the Spring Framework, Cloud Foundry PaaS, Groovy, and Grails
  • the release managers, contributors and expert users of Java, Apache Tomcat, Apache Hadoop, Apache HTTPD
  • the contributors of MADLib
  • the creators of Pivotal Tracker

Events are in San Francisco and spreading to Palo Alto, New York, Denver, and other cities! We are on meetup and soon will be on youtube. Stay tuned!

There are several events currently listed on Pivotal Open Source Hub. Check back frequently for updates, or join our meetup group and be the first to find out about new events.
