WSO2 API Manager on VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKGI)
WSO2 API Manager for Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Integrated Edition (TKGI) offers a fully open-source full lifecycle API Management solution. WSO2 API Manager deployment is composed of Kubernetes StatefulSets, Deployments and Services that are exposed to external traffic via Kubernetes Ingresses. Helm charts enable easy deployment and leverage built-in Kubernetes capabilities like service discovery and load balancing, self-healing, storage orchestration, automated rollouts and rollbacks, secret and configuration management.
The Operator can configure the WSO2 API Manager Service Broker component which is deployed as a pod which allows the integration of WSO2 API Manager with VMware Tanzu Application Service (TAS). With WSO2 API Manager Service Broker, API consumers can easily use desired API’s on-demand by using just a few commands.
WSO2 API Manager on VMware Tanzu Application Service (TAS)
The WSO2 API Manager deployment on VMware Tanzu Application Service (TAS) is deployed as a CF BOSH managed service. Once the tile is installed, a fully distributed WSO2 API Manager deployment is provisioned where the API manager components (Gateway, Key Manager, Publisher and Developer Portal) are deployed as separate BOSH VMs. The API gateway and Key Manager components can be scaled independently based on the requirement.
Native CF BOSH components are leveraged to produce a fully configured deployment of WSO2 API Manager with Analytics, complete with automated health checks. Operational tasks such as scaling the deployment and applying updates are simplified by the use of CF BOSH. Native TAS components such as the router service are used to expose the API gateway, publisher and developer portal.
The Operators can also configure the WSO2 Microgateway Buildpack for VMware Tanzu, which enables the microgateway capabilities on TAS. The microgateway capabilities can be used to deploy a lightweight edge gateway that is highly scalable. The microgateway is deployed as a CF app, so the app developers can deploy and manage their own edge gateway themselves.
